The cast of Bravo's newly announced reality-TV series "The Real Housewives of Dubai," set to premiere next year, likely will not include Lindsay Lohan, a longtime American expatriate living in that wealthy United Arab Emirates city.
TMZ.com, citing anonymous "sources with direct knowledge," said the actor-entrepreneur, who grew up in Cold Spring Harbor and Merrick, was never approached about the show, adding that the cast has been selected but not yet announced. Budgetary concerns may have played a part, the entertainment website said, suggesting that Lohan commands a higher salary than the relatively unknown women generally cast. Some film and TV stars have been cast members of previous entries, such as Denise Richards, Lisa Rinna and Garcelle Beauvais in "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
"Mean Girls" star Lohan, 35, has not responded on social media or commented publicly about the speculation. She told W magazine in 2018 of living in Dubai, "There's a certain calmness that I find there. There's no paparazzi, no cameras; that's a big deal for me. … I do really appreciate having the life where I can just go outside and not have to worry."
Bravo on Monday announced the series, set in the extremely wealthy Middle Eastern city known both as a playground for the rich and for ongoing criticism by human-rights groups and others over sex trafficking and indentured servitude and slavery of immigrant workers.
The show is the 11th in Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchise.
