Megan Hilty, who starred as Glinda in "Wicked" on Broadway, is about to take on a truly wicked role.
Deadline reports that Hilty will replace Jane Krakowski as Lily St. Regis in NBC's production of "Annie Live!" which is set to air on Dec. 2 from Gold Coast Studios in Bethpage. Krakowski, who was slated to play the nasty partner of con man Rooster Hannigan, had to drop out of the show after she was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
"I am beyond thrilled to join this all-star cast, crew and creative team," said Hilty in a statement. The actor, who earned a Tony Award nomination in 2016 for "Noises Off," also wished Krakowski a speedy recovery.
On Friday it was also announced that Andrea McArdle, who originally played Annie in the 1977 Broadway production, will portray Eleanor Roosevelt. The role of the former first lady has been created for this TV special.
