'Nurse Jackie' renewed for 5th season, but...
Yup, "Nurse Jackie," pretty much Showtime's signature comedy, has been re-upped for a fifth season. But there is a wrinkle, or rather, a new showrunner...Clyde Phillips, formerly with "Dexter." He replaces former show bosses Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius, who left the show in April; both were L.A.-based, and had been commuting to the New York set--a grind they cited in their chief reason for departing. "Jackie's" had a good season creatively --and started off particularly well. I imagine Edie Falco is a very strong candidate for an Emmy nod next month too. Here's the release on Phillips: He "was executive producer and showrunner on the first four seasons of 'Dexter.' Prior to that, Phillips created 'Get Real,' which starred Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg, 'Suddenly Susan,' and 'Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.' A national bestselling mystery novelist as well, Phillips’s fourth book, 'Unthinkable,' will be published in January 2013 by Amazon."
