Piers Morgan Wednesday night formally dropped the other half of his rather unusual professional life -- "America's Got Talent."  A video of his statement is below.

This is -- I am guessing -- probably of considerable relief to CNN, which had to share its most visible personality with a show that celebrates the debatable talents of, say, elderly ladies who can yodel.

It was one of the strangest balancing acts in Amiercan television. There'd be Piers on one channel in a serious interview format and on another channel sitting next to Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne as they smirked at a contestant who juggled balls and played the harmonica at the same time. Morgan, needless to say, looked increasingly uncomfortable on "AGT."
