Scotty McCreery or Lauren Alaina is about to become the season 10 winner of "American Idol" -- they're next to Ryan Seacrest, and the winner is...  Scotty McCreery! The front-runner all season took the lion's share of the 122 million votes cast; big hugs all around, he's swarmed by the other finalists who muss up his hair; he's got a huge smile on his face.

He just has a few minutes to soak it in and sing; cause he's still a kid he's down on the stage soaking it all in, sticks out his tongue to catch some of the confetti. Ha!

As has become the case, the actual winning moment came only after we slogged through a two-hour mishmash of hot talent and aging stars, most with something upcoming to promote.

If you missed tonight, you missed seeing Bono crooning, Beyonce sizzling, Carrie Underwood smoldering, Lady Gaga towering, Tom Jones aging, Marc Anthony preening, Tim McGraw delivering, TLC faltering, Tony Bennett killing, Jack Black hamming, Kirk Franklin emoting, Glays Knight Pip-less and Judas Priest shrieking.

Best moments of the night were Beyonce's riveting "One Plus One" ("Make love to me, so when the world's at war, that our love heal us all"), Carrie and Lauren doing a scorching "Before He Cheats," James Durbin and Casey Abrams mock-arguing about whose elimination was more shocking, then shutting up when Pia Toscano showed up -- and Haley Reinhart showing off her unbelievable tone in her duet with Tony Bennett.

What'd you think -- great finale? Yet another low moment in a disappointing season? Put your thoughts in the comments, below.
