On Sept. 19, 2007, Robin Roberts, a co-anchor of ABC Network news program "Good Morning America," announced on the air that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and would be undergoing chemotherapy treatment, followed by radiation treatment. She survived the breast cancer, but in June 2012 she then publicized that she was again diagnosed with cancer, a different type known as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a disorder that affects the blood and bone marrow; to combat the MDS, Roberts received a bone marrow transplant harvested from her sister.
