‘Royal Pains’ releases first preview for final season
“Royal Pains” begins its eighth and final season May 18, but mindful that long goodbyes tend to be (well) long, USA released the first promo for the send-off Wednesday. And it indicated that at least this long goodbye has its priorities in order.
Tongue embedded in cheek — where, you’ll note, it’s also occasionally been on the series, too — the promo features Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein) walking along a deserted beach, the soundtrack to Johnny Mathis’ “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late” wailing in the background, followed by a fast-cut of cast members hugging it out.
Says Jeremiah (Ben Shenkman), “Just out of curiosity, how long do these typically last?”
As long as you like, Jeremiah.
Or for eight episodes, anyway, which is the duration of the final run.
Also as dutifully reported here in early March, the 8th “will explore pivotal life decisions for all of the staff at HankMed, and with everyone’s focus pulled in various directions, the future of the business is at stake. After years in the Hamptons as everyone’s favorite concierge doctor, Hank must decide if his professional fulfillment equals his personal fulfillment. Evan [Paulo Costanzo] and Paige [Brooke D’Orsay] endure challenging marital decisions and must examine what family really means to them.”
And — also reported — lots of former stars are returning too, including Divya’s (Reshma Shetty) husband, Raj (Rupak Ginn), Hank’s former/sometime girlfriend, Jill (Jill Flint), Libby (Meredith Hagner) and Gen. William Collins (Bob Gunton). Other guests: Annie Potts, Teri Polo, Sebastian Roche, Dan Lauria, Constance Wu, Hal Linden, Ana Ortiz and Maria Dizzia.
