Samantha Garvey -- the celebrated Brentwood High School teen and Intel semifinalist who has been living with her family in a Bay Shore homeless shelter -- has another big moment approaching: She'll be on "Ellen" on Thursday. As you know, she's been invited to the State of the Union, too. Her "Ellen" appearance tapes later today. Here's the program note:

17 year-old Samantha Garvey from Long Island will share her inspiring story on tomorrow's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Samantha and her family are homeless, but she uses this as a source of motivation to improve her life. Along with having a 3.9 GPA, she was recently named a semi-finalist in the prestigious "Intel Science Talent Search" competition.
