The outspoken Taylor Momsen, who has appeared in only three episodes so far of the current fourth season of "Gossip Girl," is now on an indefinite hiatus from the show.
Model-actress Momsen, 17, whose expletive-laden interviews and controversial behavior have made her a target of criticism, will not appear in at least four consecutive episodes of the CW series, beginning with the midseason finale on Dec. 6, according to Deadline.com.
Her character, wild-child Manhattan high-schooler Jenny Humphrey, who has been on the show since the pilot, was sent to live with her mother in upstate New York at the end of season three. Sources connected with "Gossip Girl," a steamy drama about privileged young Upper East Siders, told E! Online, "Jenny isn't in college like everyone else, so it's hard to weave her into the central story lines," adding, "We don't want to just bring her in to . . . say a line or two - we want a reason to have her there."
Momsen, who also fronts the hard-rock band The Pretty Reckless, is happy for the time off to work on her music career, sources told E! "Her absence really is driven by the story," said one. "Anything else is speculative."
