NBC's 'The Blacklist' films at Hempstead Town Hall

NBC's "The Blacklist," which has shot on Long Island locations including Republic Airport in Farmingdale, Youngs Farm in Old Brookville and the North Shore's Bayville Bridge, added Hempstead Town Hall to the mix Friday.

For the episode "General Shiro," the production turned that municipal building at 1 Washington St., along with its Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion plaza, into two Washington, D.C., exterior locations: a hotel and Cannon House, the office building for members of the House of Representatives. Additionally, the crew staged a congressional committee meeting inside the town hall.

The episode is scheduled to be the seventh of the drama's sixth season, premiering in January. It was directed by Kurt Kuenne, who had helmed an episode each in seasons 4 and 5.

According to a spokeswoman for Sony Pictures Television, which the produces the show with Davis Entertainment and Universal Television, Friday was a "visual effects and stunt combination day."

"The Blacklist" stars James Spader as criminal mastermind Raymond "Red" Reddington, who has both collaborated with and manipulated the FBI as it pursues his "blacklist" of criminals and terrorists. Megan Boone plays FBI profiler Liz Keen, who eventually had been portrayed as Reddington's daughter until a twist in the season-5 finale in May upended that status quo.
