Sony Electronics and the Nielsen television research company surveyed viewers about the most memorable moments on TV in the past 50 years. They were expecting top responses to be the finale of "M-A-S-H" and the Beatles' performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," but monumental news moment proved to stand out over drama, music and Hollywood.

However, that was only for the people aged 55 and over who experienced the events as they happened instead of replayed as an historical artifact.
