10 weekend building and craft workshops for kids
On one Saturday of every month, first-graders Vanity Gaither and her twin brother, Virtue, 6, head to Home Depot with their mom, LaWanda. But not necessarily to go shopping. The Hempstead twins attend the free Home Depot Kids’ Workshop, donning the store’s kid-sized signature orange aprons to make items such as a toolbox, a Valentine’s Day craft and a wooden car. “I like how they do the projects,” Vanity says. “I like how we build them.” Home Depot isn’t the only retail store that offers special weekend workshops for kids and families. Here are details for Home Depot and nine more establishments that do the same on Long Island.
