LI kids meet ‘Andi Mack’ cast

We had the privilege of interviewing the stars from Disney’s “Andi Mack” while they were in Manhattan visiting the Disney offices. We met Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who stars as Andi Mack, and Lilan Bowden, who stars as Bex. We also met Sofia Wylie (Buffy), Joshua Rush (Cyrus) and Asher Angel (Jonah). We were able to talk with them about their hit TV show before they had a special screening of a new episode for the show which airs this Friday at 8 p.m. on the Disney Channel. This episode deals with Cyrus’ bar mitzvah festivities, and Andi and her friends and family all join him in the celebration, which makes for memorable events for more than just Cyrus.
We talked to them about fashion, basketball and whether they would change anything at all about this great show (they want to be superheroes!).
During this interview, we asked Lilan and Peyton Elizabeth “if you could choose to be another character in the show, who would you be and why?” Both of them sat back in their chair and thought for a few seconds before answering. Lilan said she would chose Cyrus because she liked the way he was funny, adorable and has many funny jokes that make fun of himself. Lilan said she can relate to that easily. We were surprised when Lilan chose Cyrus because we thought that she would have chosen Buffy or Andi. Buffy is a strong female character who doesn’t settle for second place. Andi is a smart, creative and responsible character. Peyton said she would choose Bex because Bex is so carefree. Even though being carefree gets Bex into trouble sometimes, it still works out for the best because of her incredible free-spirited attitude.
We also asked Lilan what it was like to ride a motorcycle and if she had any special training for it. Lilan’s answer surprised us! “You guys are going to be so disappointed, it’s not really me riding the motorcycle!” she replied with a smile. She did add that it is one of her goals to one day learn how to ride one.
We were also curious where they see the show going in the future. Both Lilan and Peyton Elizabeth agreed on this answer. They said they would like to end the show with Andi and her friends graduating from high school.
Finally, we asked them what their favorite episode to film was this year. They told us it was the bar mitzvah episode. Sophia said it had a lot of fun scenes, but also a lot of emotional scenes where you actually feel like you’re in Andi’s or Cyrus’, or maybe even Jonah’s, shoes.
After the interview we took a group photo with them. We thought the day was spectacular and we would do it again in a heartbeat.
