Builders attempt to set Guinness World Record for tallest toy train in NYC

TOMY, the maker of Chuggington, a popular preschool line of toys, is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the Tallest Toy Train Layout in Manhattan this Saturday.

Builders will use Chuggington StackTrack, a durable die-cast railway system that enables kids to achieve elevation in toy train play. The toy train will be featured as part of the Grand Centennial Parade of Trains in Grand Central Terminal Vanderbilt Hall at 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

In order to set the record, Jason Moreno, TOMY's master builder and the other helpers must construct a towering layout that meets or exceeds nine feet, 8 inches in height. Then, a Chuggington StackTrack die-cast railway train must travel from the top of the track all the way down to the bottom. An adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be on site to authenticate the record and present a certificate to TOMY as the world record holder.

The event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Families won't want to miss the Chuggington area in the Kids Junction, which will feature train activities, games, giveaways and entertainment from Radio Disney AM 1560.
