Cheer up: Cheer competition is fun
It all started back in the summer with lots and lots of practice. We would practice for two hours a day, two, then three, and sometimes even four days a week.
Our coaches told us in the early fall that we would be going to a cheering competition on the East End in November. Then, they told us we would have to practice even more.
Nov. 16 arrived. I woke up and barely ate my breakfast because I was so nervous. I put on my uniform, packed my duffle bag and went to the high school. I had so many butterflies in my stomach.
When we got to the high school, I saw so many cheerleaders and then realized I brought the wrong bow for my hair. Ugh! Luckily, my coach had an extra.
We waited our turn to cheer. It felt like 1,000 hours. Finally, we were up. We took our places on the mat and the music began. All those months of hard work must have paid off because we rocked it. We did every stunt perfectly, we were nice and tight as a team, and we had so much fun. It was awesome. I can't wait until next year's competition.
