A new outdoor playground will open in June at the Children’s Museum of the East End in honor of the Bridgehampton venue’s 20th anniversary.

"We had a backyard that was a blank canvas, an open space," says Liz Bard, one of the museum’s co-presidents. The colorful playground will offer slides, swings, sand play and opportunities to climb on steel cables both vertically and horizontally, Bard says.

"The whole playground is really focused on climbing and gross motor skills," Bard says. It is geared to ages 2 to 12 and will be included with museum admission of $19 per person for anyone older than 1.

Visit the museum website at cmee.org for updates on opening date, which is expected to be in early June, Bard says.

The Children’s Museum of the East End was founded in 2005 by eight mothers and now has more than 65,000 visitors a year.
