We went to Blondie's Bake Shop in Centerport to test out the baked goods. We met with Megan Marino, one of the bakers, and Jess Kennaugh, the owner and president. In addition to normal everyday baked goods, they have some of their own delicious creations -- such as Ugly Brownies and Nutella Sticky Buns.

We went to work in the back kitchen with Megan and Jess and got to make Ugly Brownies, one of their best sellers. Ugly Brownies got their name because they are much messier than your average brownie. It starts off as a regular brownie, but then has a fluffy layer of gooey marshmallows and a layer of peanut butter mixed in with Rice Krispies. Jess told us that some of the customers get bothered by the name, but soon get over it once they taste it! We baked our own batch of Ugly Brownies. They were so good; they were moist, crunchy, gooey and fluffy all at once!

Blondie's Bake Shop is slowly expanding from just being just a bake shop. You may see its dessert truck at an event in your town one day. You can visit its website at blondiesbakeshop .com to see its other options and beverage menu. (Hint: the red velvet cupcakes are sweet and delicious!) Blondies is located at 90A Washington Dr., Centerport, 631-424-4545.
