Edward Hallowell, ADHD expert, runs Long Island workshop
Renowned ADHD expert Edward Hallowell will show parents how to work with their affected children at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at The Waldorf School, 225 Cambridge Ave., Garden City. The workshop is called “Stress, Screens and ADHD: How to Thrive, Not Just Survive.”
Hallowell, a child and adult psychiatrist and author, will share advice about helping young people manage technology overuse and academic, family, peer and extracurricular stress, highlighting how these concerns are amplified in people with ADHD or LD. Parents will learn how to identify behavior indicative of ADHD and when to seek professional help.
Hallowell’s books “Driven to Distraction” and “Delivered from Distraction” have sold millions of copies. Hallowell has appeared on “Oprah,” “Dr. Oz” and “Good Morning America,” and has been interviewed by The New York Times, Newsweek and Time Magazine.
Hallowell was a faculty member at Harvard Medical School. He graduated from Harvard College and Tulane School of Medicine. The Hallowell Centers for Cognitive and Emotional Health in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Sudbury, Massachusetts offer comprehensive mental health diagnostic and treatment services to patients and their families.
