We talked to our teacher, Joan Soldano, because she runs our school's Space Club program.

It is an exclusive club because only sixth-graders can join and she limits it to 30 kids. When you want to join, you have to write an essay on why you want to join Space Club.

When you are part of the club, you study and create satellite prototypes. Students design and build Mars landers that are launched from the roof of our building, but what you don't know is that each lander has an egg in it and it has to not break.

Students also participate in the E-mission program called Moon, Mars, and Beyond. This mission is centered around retrieving a lost manned spacecraft. We talk with a NASA commander via Skype.

Finally, club members build and launch rockets in the school's athletic field.
