Pole Position Raceway is offering weeklong summer racing camps at its indoor, electric go-kart facility in Farmingdale.
Kids ages 8 to 12 (called juniors) or 13 to 17 (called youths) race on two quarter-mile race tracks. The five-day camps are held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and are led by a Pole Position Raceway instructor. They focus on racing history, strategy, safe driving techniques, track awareness, brake and throttle points, acceleration, passing and more.
Campers compete in a Championship Race Event followed by an awards ceremony on the fnal day of camp. No prior karting experience necessary.
A camp session for juniors (must be between 48 and 58 inches tall) begins Monday, and a camp for youths (must be at least 58 inches tall) begins July 27. Participants receive an "action" photograph and a certificate of completion. The camp fee is $400 and includes lunch, beverage and game tokens to use at the arcade each day.
