LIers can donate Halloween costumes to this cause
Another Halloween is in the books, and if you think your child will never wear his or her costume again, consider donating it so a child in need can use it during Halloween 2019.
Treat Kids Right is a grass roots effort to collect gently used costumes started last year by Huntington resident Laura Yellen Catlan. Costumes can be dropped off through Nov. 10 at the Buttercooky Bakery, 495 New York Ave., Huntington. Costumes should be cleaned, and all pieces should be placed in a plastic bag and attached to the costume.
This year, Treat Kids Right donated 92 costumes to the Huntington Tri Community Youth Agency. “We’re very, very grateful,” says Debbie Rimler, agency director. “They really helped make the holiday special for a lot of children who otherwise couldn’t afford costumes.”
