Eight Long Island children’s book authors will turn out this winter for the Stony Brook-based Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s annual Hot Cocoa & Marshmallows series.

The schedule includes Karen Seder on Jan. 27, Jack Batcher on Feb. 3, Valerie Pfundstein on Feb. 17, Tracy Delio on Feb. 24, Barbara Kirshner on March 2, Rich Specht on March 9, and Michelle Zimmerman on March 16.

In addition to storytelling and crafts, “there are some singalongs,” says Marie Gilberti, a spokeswoman for the organization.

Each session begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts 45 minutes. The series is geared toward children ages 3 to 5 years old and culminates with hot cocoa and marshmallows.

The cost is $3 per child. Reservations are not required. The events will be held at the Educational & Cultural Center at 97P Main St. in the Stony Brook Village Center.
