Have you ever sat at home with nothing to do and all your friends aren’t free? I have a very fun project you can do yourself right in your nearby woods. I have done this from time to time. The materials you will need are simple and basic: sticks of different sizes, a shovel and some string.

Find a spot in the woods that has four trees in the shape of a square. These trees will give great support.

Take your shovel and dig a straight line about 5 inches deep from one tree to another. Make sure to leave one side open to be your entrance.

Take your medium sticks and put them upright into the trench that you made. Make sure they are as close to one another as they can be. Repeat until you have a wall.

Take your string and wrap it around each wall, using the trees for support, and make sure it is as tight as you can make it. This will add even more support.

Take your shovel and dig out a 5-inch-deep hole inside the entire fort. Then lay your small sticks inside the hole and put dirt on top of them. This will make the ground stay hard so you won’t sink. Take your large sticks and lay them across the top of your walls.

If you want a better shelter, than you need to add more on top so there is no way for the rain to get in. Decorate and enjoy your fun and amazing fort you made all by yourself.
