Kohl's features the Siamese cat Skippyjon Jones and his cohorts along with hardcover Skippyjon Jones hardcover books for $5 each during the summer of 2012 to raise money for Kohl's Cares, a charity that donates to children's health and education initiatives nationwide.

It’s Skippyjon Jones’ turn in the spotlight.

Every few months, Kohl’s department stores comes out with a different line of plush stuffed animals and related hardcover children’s books sold to raise money for Kohl’s Cares, a charity that donates to children’s health and education initiatives nationwide. The items are a deal — $5 for each animal or book. One hundred percent of the net profit goes to the charity; more than $200 million has been raised by the program since 2000. Some of that money has gone to the Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park, Queens.

This summer, Kohl’s chose Skippyjon Jones, a Siamese cat who thinks he is a sword-fighting superhero Chihuahua named Skippito Friskito. The big-eared, big-eyed cat wears a black superhero mask. Some of his partners in crime are also for sale. The four book choices are “Skippyjon Jones,” “Skippyjon Jones in the Doghouse,” “Skippyjon Jones Class Action” and “Skippyjon Jones Lost in Spice,” all by author Judy Schachner.

The store is also selling a Skippyjon Jones backpack for $5 for back-to school, and Skippyjon Jones note cards, also for $5. But wait, there’s more! You can also buy an online-only exclusive book and coordinating plush. The book's titled “Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones.”

In the past, the store has featured characters such as Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George. The Skippyjon Jones items are on sale through the end of September.
