“The difference between our boat and taking the ferry is that the Moon Chaser has a full cash bar, music on the boat and bathrooms,” says Capt. Tom Greene, owner of the 65-foot Moon Chaser. A canopied upper sun deck lets riders enjoy the breeze during the hourlong ride across Great South Bay. Flynn’s is an open-air restaurant on the bay in Ocean Bay Park on Fire Island. The all-you-can-eat lobster and prime rib buffet is $42 a person before tax, tip and beverage. The buffet also has baked clams, shrimp, chicken, fish and more and includes dessert and coffee. The buffet is $18.95 for kids 12 and younger, and there’s an a la carte children’s menu for $9.95. In addition, the King Wellington reggae band will be playing on the deck from 4 p.m. on. Atlantis Explorer tour boat

Travel down the Peconic River with an aquarium educator onboard to point out area wildlife, such as ospreys and egrets. Stop at a remote beach to get your feet wet. Kids can use a seine to capture fish. Total trip time is 90 minutes. “It’s very relaxing, soothing and calming,” says Darlene Puntillo, marketing and advertising director for the aquarium. “You feel at peace when you get on the boat.” If you choose, spend the rest of the day at the aquarium and see the penguins, sharks, sea lions, turtles and other saltwater creatures.

Mon Tiki Largo

Bring a picnic onboard the Mon Tiki Largo, a brand-new boat that just earned its U.S. Coast Guard seal of approval Memorial Day weekend. The 65-foot Largo joins the original 40-foot Mon Tiki boat, both built on Long Island by Capt. David Ryan. The catamaran is called a Polynesian war canoe because it looks like two connected canoes, Ryan says. The Largo can accommodate 100 riders and a crew, and cruises for two hours on Block Island Sound.

Have a meal either before or after the two-hour sail — Snapper Inn vouchers must be used the same day (advance reservations at Snapper Inn suggested). Priscilla is an 1888 oyster sloop that used to dredge oysters in the New York City area. The 60-foot sailboat was built in Patchogue. If it rains or is too windy, the trip will be called off and customers will get refunds or can reschedule, says Mary Sullivan, administrator at the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville, which owns the Priscilla.
