Long Island shops to offer giveaways Saturday for Neighborhood Toy Store Day
In advance of the holiday rush, independent retailers across Long Island will participate Saturday in Neighborhood Toy Store Day by offering crafting sessions, product giveaways, refreshments and discounts.
At Einstein’s Attic in Northport, kids will be treated to board game demos of Bounce-Off, Yikerz and Cardline and go home with giveaways from Sago Toys, Blue Orange Games and Gamewright. “It’s important to support our community, families and Main Street,” says owner Lori Badanes.
Einstein Attic's just-opened pop-up shop also is getting in on the action. Toy Box, next to Nordstrom in Huntington Station, will offer game demos, crafts and giveaways, in addition to hot cocoa and Hanukkah photos for the kids.
At G. Willikers in Locust Valley, the Grinch will stop by from noon to 1 pm to pose for holiday photos with the kids. There’ll be a themed stickers craft that doubles as a take-home gift.
Kids can enjoy a day of play at Funky Monkey Toys & Books in Greenvale. From noon to 2 pm, they can build LEGO Jurassic Park dinosaurs, get their faces painted and leave with goody bags. Parents can get a jump on their holiday shopping and take advantage of 20-percent discount on all purchases over $75.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Goldsmith’s in Greenport will treat visitors with refreshments, discounts and goody bags.
Independently owned toy stores throughout the United States and in Canada are participating in the event, which promotes shopping at local businesses.
