Meet 50 kids’ book authors and illustrators at Long Island event
More than 50 kids’ book authors and illustrators will gather for a massive, free, open-to-the-public meet-and-greet and signing from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Jericho Middle School, 99 Old Cedar Swamp Rd., Jericho.
Authors and illustrators are coming from throughout Long Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Connecticut for the event. They include, for instance, Lynda Mullaly Hunt, whose middle-grade book “Fish in a Tree” was a New York Times bestseller and won multiple awards, and Port Washington author Beth Ain, whose “Starring Jules” series was named Best New Series 2013 by Parents magazine.
Only one of each author’s or illustrator’s books will be for sale at the event — for a list of participants and which books, visit nerdcampLI.weebly.com. However, kids can also bring books from home to be signed, says JoEllen McCarthy, one of the organizers of nerdcampLI.
The meet-and-greet is part of nerdcampLI, a day when 400 educators from across Long Island gather for professional enrichment. Only the meet-and-greet is open to the public as well as the teachers participating in nerdcampLI.
