New Sky Zone indoor trampoline park open in Deer Park
Jacqueline Auer of Babylon watches her son, J.T. Ging, 2, bounce around the trampoline court at the new Sky Zone indoor trampoline park in Deer Park. “He is so excited,” she says. “We’ve been cooped up all winter. He gets to burn off that energy.”
Auer organized a trip to toddler open play at Sky Zone for The Moms Club of Babylon Township. Member Christina Tackett of Lindenhurst brought daughters Sophia 2, and Emily, 3 months; it was her first visit to a trampoline park, where entire floors and some walls are made of the spongy material.
“I love it,” she says as the loud speakers play songs such as “Whistle While You Work” and “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.” “It’s nice and spacious. I feel it’s organized.”
The trend is burgeoning – Sky Zone is at least the third indoor trampoline park to open on Long Island since August. “I think what happened is it just made its way to the East Coast,” says Michael Kaminsky, Sky Zone general manager.
In addition to toddler time, Sky Zone offers dodgeball and volleyball leagues for older jumpers and adults and birthday parties starting at $280 for 11 jumpers.
The navy-blue-and-orange themed facility is set up in a U-shape, with the main open court, foam pit and basketball Sky Slam lanes all easily visible from a center area with seating for parents.
“Our team members are stationed everywhere,” Kaminsky says. “The parents, in a very short while, become comfortable.”
Toddler time, for ages 5 and under, is $7.50 an hour, $12 for two hours and $15 for three hours. “We don’t charge anything extra for the four-hour nap they take when they go home,” Kaminsky jokes. “Because they WILL sleep.”
Sky Zone is located at 111 Rodeo Dr., Deer Park. For more information about toddler time or activities for older children, call 631-392-2600 or visit skyzone.com/deerpark.
