Talking to Jets linebacker Demario Davis
We went to the Jets practice facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, to watch the team work out and then meet linebacker Demario Davis.
What do you do to get ready for a game? Do you have any superstitions?
I'm not really a superstitious person. I try to follow closely the same routine. Pregame I do a lot of praying, listen to my earphones, get my spirit right and my mind right and then I get stretched out and ready to go.
What is the hardest thing you've done so far in the NFL?
Just being disciplined every day. Not anything is too hard to do, but you have to be disciplined every day and [have] a lot of focus.
Your uniform number is 56. Did you pick it and does it have any special meanings to you?
Yeah, Psalm 56 is very important to me. Also, Lawrence Taylor is one of my favorite players of all time.
What do you and your team think needs improvement?
Defense is what I focus on. So we just need to create turnovers.
Does anyone special come to your games to cheer you on?
My mom and my wife are pretty much at every game. My dad, he comes.
What do you miss about college?
You have a lot of friendships in high school and you got different friendships in college and in your career path you got different friendships. There's different parts of life you look back [on], and you remember those friendships that you had in those bonds.
Your parents must be proud of you. Do they brag about you?
I hope so.
Do you like hitting players? Is there anyone in particular that you would like to hit extra hard?
Tom Brady.
How much can you bench press?
Probably about 450.
On road trips, is there any type of food that you prefer?
Chicken wings.
If they were to make a movie about your life, who would you want to star as you?
Wesley Snipes.
What's the biggest difference between last year's team and this year's team?
I don't know yet. You got to ask that again at the end of the season.
