If you have a Peg Perego stroller, pay attention: The company recalled 223,000 strollers Tuesday because children can be strangled to death.
There is also a separate Kolcraft stroller recall because of potential falling and choking hazards.
One 6-month-old boy from California was strangled to death in a Peg Perego stroller in 2004; two years later, a 7-month-old girl from New York was almost strangled to death in one of the strollers, according to The Associated Press.
The Peg Perego recall includes the Venezia and Pliko-P3 strollers made from January 2004 to September 2007. "To find out if their stroller is included in the recall, consumers should check the child tray of their Pliko P3 or Venezia stroller," the website says. "Only strollers that have a child tray with one cup holder are part of this recall. Strollers with a bumper bar or a tray with two cup holders are not included with this recall."
"Entrapment and strangulation can occur, especially to infants younger than 12 months of age, when a child is not harnessed and left unattended," according to the company's recall announcement. "An infant can pass through the opening between the stroller tray and seat bottom, but his/her head and neck can become entrapped by the tray. Infants who become entrapped at the neck are at risk of strangulation."

The Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. recall is for the Contours LT Tandem Stroller with model number ZT012. Although there have been no reported injuries, the company says that the front wheel assembly can break; for strollers made in January and February 2012, the nuts holding the stroller’s basket support screws in place can break off.
