Joyful is the word that came to mind when visiting Bounce! Trampoline Sports, the latest Long Island indoor play venue for kids.
I recently took my 10-year-old and two friends to test drive the 50,000-square-foot Syosset facility, a former kitchen-sink warehouse. The place is so big that the lines went fast, which was a relief for all of us on that busy, drizzly Sunday afternoon.
The kids dove into the foam pits smiling ear to ear, even as they struggled mightily to find their balance to get out, and they couldn’t get enough of the trampoline bungee jump, where they ricocheted above the crowds imagining they might touch the ceilings.
But they also couldn’t get enough of trampoline dodgeball — as soon as the boys finished one game, they went back in line for their next turn.
The place is clean, and well run. The staff is attentive. Make sure your child thanks them when he gets help — the smiling “you’re welcome” that he’ll get back is worth it. (I don’t think the staff gets too many thank yous.)
A volleyball court just opened at Bounce!, but it wasn’t assembled that weekend. So we have to plan a return trip. The children’s pink, smiling, sweaty, spent faces that afternoon guarantee it.
