Now my son Harrison wants his birthday cake to read this way:

“Happy birthday, Harrison — and Mickey Mouse.”

That he and the legendary rodent share the same birthday in November is one of the useless pieces of information in “The Totally Awesome Book of Useless Information” by Noel Botham (Penguin, $12.95), a new book aimed at kids that is pretty totally awesome.

Other facts that intrigued the 8-year-old, who couldn’t put the book down as soon as the review copy came home:

— Fingernails are made from the same substance as a bird’s beak (gross).

— The bestselling chocolate bar in Russia is Snickers (not really sure why that fascinated him).

— There is a town in Texas called Ding Dong (actually, that was my favorite fact).
