My dad owns a seal coating company for driveways, Rob’s Seal Coating, and sometimes I like to help him.

When my dad taught me how to seal coat, I was 5. My first project was my dad’s friend’s driveway. My second job was to stir the seal coat. It’s important to stir it because you don’t want the seal coat to be crunchy. If it is hard you can’t fill in the cracks in the driveway. You also have to make sure we don’t seal coat the end of a driveway just because you only want to seal the blacktop and not the concrete.

My dad has a tank attached to his truck full of seal coating and I go with him to fill the tank. My father does the whole driveway. It is important to have your driveway seal-coated because the rough weather can ruin it. If it rains or snows right after we do the driveway, the driveway would be ruined.

One time a person actually paid me $50. I was so happy! Another time, a person gave us a nice cold water with ice on a really hot day.

My dad started his company when he was 20 years old. Also, my dad has another job as a construction worker.
