'Sesame Street' replaces 'Elmo's World'
I don't know about your child, but my 18-month-old daughter's favorite part of "Sesame Street" is "Elmo's World," which runs during the last 20 minutes.
But now, little ones will have to bid farewell to the beloved segment and make way for a new one, which also will feature the high-pitched, furry red monster.
According to The Associated Press, "Elmo's World" is being phased out after 13 years, and will be replaced by "Elmo the Musical."
Rosemarie Truglio, who is senior vice president of education and research at Sesame Workshop, said the intention is to incorporate the arts into the show's emphasis on bringing concepts in science, technology, engineering and math to its preschool-aged viewers.
We'll be tuning in this week, and I'm curious to see if it still captures Maggie's attention in the same way. My guess is it will -- as long as there's similar music, dancing and repetition.
