Splish Splash pools hold about 2 million gallons of water

Splish Splash in Calverton features two wave pools (Kahuna Bay and Surf City), Soak City, a splash pool for all ages and the Lazy River, where you can take a relaxing tube ride. The pools hold approximately 2 million gallons of filtered and recycled water.

Splish Splash has won awards

Splish Splash was rated fifth on the Travel Channel's list of best water parks in the United States in 2001 and 2006.

Splish Splash opened in May 1991. The water park was originally 32 acres in size and featured two tube slides, three body slides, a family raft ride, two speed slides, a 1,300-foot "lazy river," two kiddie pools and a restaurant.

Long Islanders love Dippin' Dots

More than 3.5 billion Dippin' Dots have been sold at Splish Splash. The tiny beads of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet and flavored ice were created by microbiologist Curt Jones in 1988.

What used to be vast farmland on Long Island's East End is now one of the largest water parks in the tristate area, spanning more than 90 acres.

Hollywood Stunt Rider is a ride and a show

In 2002, Splish Splash built Hollywood Stunt Rider, a Hollywood-themed enclosed family ride complete with an interactive water show for guests to enjoy while waiting in line. "Irving Fabrezio," an animatronic film director figure, narrates the show as he attempts to audition guests for his latest blockbuster.

In 2010, Splish Splash hosted a wedding near the Mammoth River Expedition ride (pictured). The wedding party wore bathing suits and enjoyed the water park for the day.

LI visitors love the water roller coaster

The most popular ride at Splish Splash is Bootleggers Run, the first water coaster ride in New York State featuring new-generation hydromagnetic technology. The ride takes four-person rafts uphill, like a theme park roller coaster, for a series of breathtaking drops, including one from nearly five stories high.

Employees are hired from around the world

Splish Splash hires students from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Romania. The college students are hired on a J-1 visa work and travel program. They come to the United States to work and then can travel for up to 30 days after their last day of work.

Kids can play on the Yellow Submarine

The Yellow Submarine replaced the Elephant Slide in 2015. Along with having fun in this wading pool, kids can play on Monsoon Lagoon, a shipwreck with climbing ropes, water cannons and slides. Kids can also swing on the tentacles of an octopus in the Octopus Pool or check out Pirates Cove, an interactive pirate ship.
