Actress Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," is encouraging you to pledge a single act of kindness.

The "Do the KIND Thing" initiative supports the Joyful Heart Foundation -- a nonprofit organization founded by Hargitay to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.

Here's how to pledge:

From now until Oct. 2, Hargitay is asking you to do something kind by lending your support to a parent or caregiver, offering a helping hand, preparing a meal together or simply asking how they're doing.

If enough people visit KINDmovement.com and pledge to complete this act of kindness by Oct. 2, Hargitay and the Joyful Heart Foundation as well as KIND will package and deliver healing kits to hundreds of children currently housed at The Manhattan Child Advocacy Center in Manhattan.

What are some of the simple acts of kindness you do or have seen on a daily basis? Share with us in the comment section below.
