The Disney universe — which also includes the superheroes of Marvel and the space adventure of Star Wars — is poised to have another big year with several potential blockbusters on the way. From “Toy Story 4” to “Captain Marvel” and more, here’s a look at the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ release schedule for 2019.

"Captain Marvel"

Starring Brie Larson (pictured) in the title role, this film is an introduction to one of the most powerful heroes from the Marvel Comics Universe. Set in the 1990s, it shows how she figures out both her past and her destiny while trying to protect Earth from becoming a casualty of an intergalactic war. Co-stars Djimon Hounsou and Annette Bening, as well as Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as “Nick Fury” and Clark Gregg as “Agent Coulson.” Movie hits theaters March 8, 2019.

"Dumbo"

Directed by iconic auteur Tim Burton (“Beetlejuice,” “Ed Wood,” “Batman”), this is a live-action take on Disney’s classic story of a young elephant with quirky ears that turn out to be a ticket to flying adventure and deep discovery. Starring Danny DeVito, Colin Farrell (pictured) and Michael Keaton; soars onto big screens March 29, 2019.

"Penguins"

Fresh from Disney’s “Disneynature” independent nature documentary film branch, “Penguins” is a visually stunning look at an Adelie penguin named Steve and his journey into adulthood while navigating the difficulties and dangers inherent in a freezing and treacherous Antarctic spring. It hits theaters April 17, 2019.

"Avengers: Endgame"

Picking up where "Avengers: Infinity War" left off, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr., pictured), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) lead the remaining Marvel heroes who weren't devastated by "The Snap" in a last-ditch attempt to try and rectify the damage done to the universe by intergalactic mega-villain Thanos (Josh Brolin). The movie makes its way into theaters April 26, 2019.

"Aladdin"

Disney’s classic animated version of “Aladdin” comes to life under the direction of stylish filmmaker Guy Ritchie (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”). The tale of love and rags-to-magic riches stars Mena Massoud (pictured) as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine (pictured) and Will Smith as Genie. The movie is heading into theaters May 24, 2019.

"Toy Story 4"

Pixar's original star characters are back for a fourth tale, during which Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) must help a new plaything navigate its experience while simultaneously learning what the outside world can be like for a toy. Co-starring Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Kristen Schaal; hits theaters June 21, 2019.

"The Lion King"

Director Jon Favreau (“Iron Man, “Elf") is at the helm of this retelling of the story of Simba (voice of Donald Glover), and his rise from prince to outcast to king. Costarring James Earle Jones, Beyonce, Seth Rogan and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The movie opens in theaters July 19, 2019.

"Artemis Fowl"

Disney is offering its take on the science-fiction fantasy book series from author Eoin Colfer, starring Josh Gad, Judi Dench and young actor Ferdia Shaw (pictured) as the title character. Directed by Kenneth Branagh (“Henry V,” “Hamlet,” “Thor”), it’s the adventures of 12-year-old Artemis Fowl, a prodigy who’s searching for his missing father while battling against the futuristic technology of the fairies and the evil of mankind. Opens in theaters Aug. 9, 2019.

"Frozen 2"

Plot details are being kept under wraps but Anna (pictured from the 2013 Disney film "Frozen;" voiced by Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Olaf (Josh Gad) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) are all set to appear again in a new adventure. Disney will let it go into theaters Nov. 22, 2019.
