Weekend family fun: Dalmations, The Wiggles, crafts, cupcakes and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From a classic Disney performance to The Wiggles, tie-dye crafts, cupcakes and more, there's so much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for fun, family-friendly activities this weekend:
1. Looney Limerick Sticks at East End Arts Council (133 E. Main St., Riverhead). Kids ages 8 to 10 will listen to funny limericks and learn how to create one, cut it into a shape and put it on a stick on Saturday at noon. Price: $15.
2. 101 Dalmations at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (71 E. Main St., Patchogue). On Friday and Sunday at 11 a.m., kids and adults alike can enjoy a reenactment of the classic Disney movie, performed by the Ovations Dance Repertory Company. Tickets range from $12-$20.
3. Peace, Love and Cupcakes Party at Cupcake Corner Too (62 New Hyde Park Rd., Garden City). On Saturday at noon, children ages 4 to 12 can make beaded tie-dye T-shirts, jewelry using bottle caps and enjoy tie-dye cupcakes and pizza. Price: $30 for kids.
4. The Wiggles in Concert at NYCB Theatre at Westbury (960 Brush Hollow Rd., Westbury). The Wiggles perform live on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; tickets range from $20-$75.50.
5. Family Sundays at the Museum at the Nassau County Museum of Art (1 Museum Dr., Roslyn Harbor). Tour the museum with a guide and then enjoy art-inspired activities at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Free with museum admission ($10, $8, $4); children under 4 are free; $2 parking fee weekends only.
