Ashley Graham, plus-sized model, lands Sports Illustrated Swimsuit gig

Ashley Graham, a fashion model who resides in Brooklyn, will make waves in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition this year.
The plus-sized model is the sports magazine’s latest 2016 SI Swimsuit rookie.
“It’s official – I’m a @si_swimsuit model!!!” Graham posted to Instagram on Tuesday. “This is a dream come true. Thank you to everyone who stood up for curves.”
Graham is no stranger to making headlines – or history.
She was featured in an advertisement in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition last year after her #CurvesinBikinis campaign went viral. She was the first plus-size model to ever appear in the edition.
Last year, size 12 model Robyn Lawley broke the SI Swimsuit mold. As a size 16, Graham will continue to push traditional modeling boundaries.
In an interview with TODAY, the model said she hopes her new gig will help improve women’s body positivity.
“We are all built differently and that’s a good thing!” Graham said. “Celebrate and embrace your differences.”
