If you squinted your eyes and let your imagination run wild, there were times you’d almost have believed that Monique Lhuillier’s models were swimming down the runway, not just merely walking it. For spring, the French designer was inspired by water and sea life, and her cocktail dresses and gowns are awash in rich, watery prints, some iridescent and sequined so they sparkle like glints of sun on the waves.
Her tops, pants, skirts and dresses for day come in digital, inky prints of cranes and koi, and feature peplums to help emphasize the figure.

Then there are the cocktail dresses, gobbed with sequins, in shades of ocean, teal and sea foam.
Maybe because it was the end of a long day, but the sequin numbers felt just a tad too bright, verging on garish. If only there were a dimmer switch.
