Tadashi Shoji’s fab froth fest
Designer Tadashi Shoji romanced the assembled fashion fray with a frothy and feminine collection of dresses and gowns — and two Chantilly lace short sets — though we're not sure who's wearing these (we might like to). Loads of delicate lace, bright ikat prints and airy chiffon came swirling down this runway.
Silhouettes were particularly striking here — sure there was a body clinger or two -- but many of the frocks hung loose and easy — a trapeze dress, even — making them a definite option for real gals, along with curvaceous stars who wear Shoji, such as Octavia Spencer and Christina Hendricks.
And then there was the color story — side by side with the neutrals came glorious bursts of blue, jade and paprika. The finale dress read like frosting on a wedding cake — a blushy white, one-shouldered number with floral applique and tiers and tiers of tulle. Quite the confection.
