There’s a new Talbots on Long Island, opening in Manhasset on Feb. 16, where the space will be chock-full of those Talbot standards — brightly colored separates, springy floral prints, preppy nautical stripes and, of course, khakis — in a collection that includes missy and petite sizes along with accessories and footwear. Notably, during her reign as first lady, Michelle Obama has sported plenty of the brand’s crisp classics on vacations, magazine covers and even during a hilarious Jimmy Fallon segment called “The Evolution of Mom Dancing,” during which a dance move was dubbed “This ol’ thing? I got it at Talbots.”

But she’s not the only high-profile name getting into the Talbots act. The brand has partnered with O, The Oprah Magazine to create the first-ever O fashion line designed in partnership with the mag’s creative director, Adam Glassman, to debut in stores on Feb. 22. Whether Oprah Winfrey will actually wear the stuff remains to be seen, but there’s a wonderful philanthropic side to the collection — 30 percent of the proceeds go to Dress for Success, an international charity that helps women get back into the workforce.

The store is located at 1625 Northern Blvd., in the former Rochester Big and Tall space.
