Jacqui Goodale fell in love with Italian wines, along with the look and ambience of Florentine wine shops, while studying abroad in Italy for a combined bachelor of arts and master of arts  in Italian studies from New York University. When she and her husband, Greg, bought Diliberto Winery in Jamesport in 2021, she wanted to make over the vineyard’s vibe to reflect the destination.

First order of business was giving the winery an Italian name, Terra Vite. Terra means land in Italian and vite means vines. Then there was the reimagining of the tasting room, with the help of local design champs Jamesport's Lumber & Salt, in eclectic, Old World style. Next was perfecting the ambience: The Goodales planted 5 acres of Sangiovese grapes, an expression of their commitment to Tuscan-style reds.

And finally, this spring, Goodale opened a shop in a winery outbuilding. Initially, the boutique, called, Enoteca was "a simple idea to create a space outside of the tasting room to retail our wines." But with her enthusiasm for the Italian lifestyle, Enoteca is now bursting with Italian foodstuffs, handicrafts and accessories for living la bella vita.

The inventory is aspirational, but prices are reasonable. From lemon-shaped soaps ($7) to olive wood charcuterie boards ($45), chic embroidered beach baskets ($65) and breezy Italian linen beach separates (all under $200), there are plenty of luxe souvenirs to bring home, without the cost of international airfare.

For Goodale, it’s all about evoking fond memories and making new ones. Inspired by Enoteca’s thoughtfully curated goods, visitors often reminisce about their Italian roots and share their upcoming vacation plans. "Whether it’s the pappardelle pasta that reminds one guest of their Nonna’s Sunday cooking," says Goodale, "or the hand-painted Sorrento soap dish that excites another for their visit to the Amalfi Coast next fall — it’s inciting those emotional moments that really make this industry worthwhile to me."
