Kidsday review: 'Hoodwinked Too!'
If you like the first movie "Hoodwinked" or just like fairy tales in general, you will love this movie, "Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil." "Hoodwinked Too" is an animated movie starring Hayden Panettiere as Red, Joan Cusack as Verushka the witch, Bill Hader as Hansel, Patrick Warburton as the Big Bad Wolf, Glenn Close as Granny, and Amy Poehler as Gretel. Twitchy the squirrel was voiced by Cory Edwards.
Red is called out of training to solve the disappearance of Hansel and Gretel. She is unhappy that she was pulled from her training with the Sisters of the Hood. Red is instructed to do so by the HEA (Happily Ever After Agency). She is partnered up with Wolf and his partner Twitchy the squirrel. Red is not happy about being in their partnership. As the search continues, the whole HEA comes together to help, with disastrous results. All the while, Granny gets kidnapped by an evil witch. You'll never guess who the real bad guys were!
We liked that the movie was funny, and involved a billy goat who was repeatedly beaten up by random objects while strumming his banjo and singing. We thought this movie would be appropriate for kids ages 6 to 9. There are some jokes that are aimed at older kids. The movie was rated PG. All in all, we would recommend this movie for families of all ages.

Red-carpet musings
Classmates and siblings Courtney Conkling and Matthew Conkling stood on the red carpet Saturday in Manhattan, and met Amy Poehler, David Alan Grier and Hayden Panettiere who all had parts in "Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil." They asked a few questions and also got to talk with other stars as well.
They asked Grier (the voice for Moss the troll) what his favorite part of the movie was. He said, "Duh, my part, dude! Moss man. Is there an animated Oscar? Because I'm so confident! I'm expecting a lot of accolades for this particular part."
They asked Poehler what she thinks kids will like most about the movie. She said, "I think they would probably like the idea of friends getting together and helping each other out. Teaming up to fight the bad guys. And it seems there's a lot of action in the movie that kids would like, and hopefully they'll think it's funny."
Panettiere has been acting since age 4. She said that what she liked best was all the cool 3-D animation. Asked if she enjoyed doing voice-over work, she said, "That's one of the best things about acting. You can do it in so many different ways, and there's so many different roles, and you never know what you're going to do next."
