The annual festival in Nassau County to celebrate St. Rocco is returning, and according to Angie Colangelo, the chairperson for Glen Cove's feast, the food will be aplenty.

"Everything is done fresh,” Colangelo says of the expected pasta dishes, pastries and sausage and pepper sandwiches that'll be available for purchase. “My Italian nonnas do all the cooking, under the supervision of our chef and our sous chefs,” she adds.

St. Rocco is recognized in the Roman Catholic Church as the protector against contagious diseases.

There will be food vendors selling Italian and international fare, live entertainment, carnival games and amusement park rides on-site, with rider coupons and "Pay One Price" bracelets.

The festival takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. July 27-29 and 3 to 11 p.m. July 30 before the final day on July 31, which runs from 3 to 10 p.m. The day begins with the traditional procession of the patron Saint Rocco through the streets of Glen Cove following the 10:15 a.m. Sunday Mass. Each gathering will also include children’s shows, games and rides, plus a marching band performance.

Colangelo notes last year’s event was held “on a smaller scale,” following a cancellation in 2020, but this year, the feast will be back in full swing.
