The sport of pitch and putt, played over 18 holes with two irons and a putter on a shorter course than traditional golf, is gaining popularity in the United States. Here are some places to play in Nassau and Suffolk.

CEDAR BEACH PITCH AND PUTT, Ocean Parkway between Cedar and Overlook beaches, Babylon, 631-321-4562, townofbabylon.com

Season: 9 a.m.-various times through mid-October, weather permitting.
