All you can eat in Bethpage: Sushi Time 560

The concept of all-you-can-eat sushi doesn’t have to involve frenetic trips to a buffet table. At the new Sushi Time 560 in Bethpage, a fixed price ($18.95 weekdays; $20.95 weekends and holidays) gets you made-to-order sushi, sashimi and kitchen items brought to you by a server. Just check off the items you want on a paper form (which implores you not to waste food by ordering too much) and relax. (An additional a la carte menu is also available.)
If this kind of deal reminds you of another Long Island restaurant — Sushi Palace in Great Neck — it's no coincidence; the ownership is the same. And if the address of the new place sounds familiar, you may have already been to the strip mall storefront in Bethpage that's housed a string of Asian restaurants, the last one Wok & Roll and the one before Zong’s Shanghai.
A recent dinner at Sushi Time 560 began with a bowl of flavorsome seafood udon soup. A companion and I shared four rolls: tuna-avocado, peanut-avocado, a “pink lady” (spicy tuna with tempura flakes, sliced tuna, salmon and avocado) and a “yummy maki” (spicy crunchy tuna, avocado, mango and eel). All fresh and nicely wrought. I also got a piece each of salmon and red snapper sashimi.
We decided to try the chicken teriyaki, which was presented unadorned and none too attractively on a small dish. Even so, the chicken was juicy and tender.
Ice cream completed the night. No beer, sake or wine yet; a liquor license is pending.
Sushi Time 560 is at 560 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, 516-513-1622
