Benchmark Cafe

With its convenient location across from the Nassau County Court buildings, this handy deli cafe draws a crowd of assistant district attorneys, lawyers, jurors and the occasional judge.

The place has lots going for it - an outdoor seating area to enjoy the fine weather as well as indoor tables for chilly or wet days. Both a self-serve buffet and made-to-order options greet the breakfast and lunch crowd. Sandwich choices include all the standards (tuna salad, pastrami, BLT) as well as such specials as the "paisano" - char-grilled chicken, chopped onion, tomatoes and balsamic vinegar on semolina bread. There are several salads as well as such hot buffet specials as grilled lemon chicken with capers over rice.

If the courts are in session, the Benchmark is open. Weekends are recess time.
