
Bigelow’s in Rockville Centre and more Long Island restaurants to try this weekend

On summer weekends, the ocean and the Sound beckon. Here are three spots for a local taste of seafood.
Bigelow’s in Rockville Centre has been around since 1939. The ultracasual establishment remains a cash-only operation. Recommended: fried Ipswich clams, fried clam strips, New England-style clam chowder; fish and chips made with flounder, whiting or cod; fried oysters; swordfish.

Bostwick’s Chowder House in East Hampton accepts no reservations, so be prepared to wait at this informal, beachy restaurant. If the weather allows, dine alfresco. Recommended: fried oysters with roasted corn salsa, fried calamari, raw oysters, corn chowder, New England-style clam chowder, fish and chips, broiled flounder, lobster roll.

Noah’s in Greenport is one the best seafooders in either Nassau or Suffolk. The look is sleek; the style, homey. Recommended: hamachi crudo, crisp oyster po’boy, Tasmanian red crab tacos, Long Island clam chowder, crab-stuffed deviled eggs, ahi tuna poke, Long Island seafood jambalaya, warm lobster roll.
