BiVio means a fork in the road. And, as the great philospher Yogi Berra once advised, when you reach a fork in the road, take it.

This appealing new restaurant has moved into the address remembered best for Fred's, a German eatery. Fred's successors have been pretty grim, until now.

Credit the owner of BiVio, Omar Ortega; and chef, Pastor Alfaro, both veterans of  the stellar Luigi Q in Hicksville.

Go for the hearty version of chicken scarpariello and the lush pappardelle alla Bolognese, spicy calamari in red sauce and orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe. It's also a destination for specials such as rabbit alla cacciatora, tripe and quail. The Italian cheesecake and the cannoli are very good.

BiVio is near the split of East Jericho Turnpike and East Deer Park Road.
